Posted 5 March 2014
Harper Adams University is to welcome 25 postgraduate scholarship students from the Dominican Republic thanks to a new collaboration.
An agreement is being finalised with the Dominican Republic Government through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. Successful applicants will then begin their studies at the university in Shropshire in September.
Initial discussions took place in October last year, with officials visiting the Harper Adams campus in January and also last week.
Professor Brian Revell co-hosted the latest visit. He said: “The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology is offering students the opportunity to apply for a scholarship which will enable them to then study at Harper Adams.
“The students will be able to study a range of specialist agricultural and food-related MSc programmes, including Precision Farming, Integrated Pest Management, Soil and Water Management, Conservation and Forest Protection, Sustainable Agriculture , Rural Sustainable Energy, Food Industry Management and Farm and Agri-business Management.
“Harper Adams is looking forward to developing academic links with specialist universities and faculties of agriculture and food in the Dominican Republic over the coming year.”
